Join the Salem Area Trail Alliance and REI on Nation Public Lands Day for a Volunteer Trail Work Party at Silver Falls State Park! Saturday, September 26, 9:00 am-1:00 pm.
Thanks to a generous grant from REI the Catamount Trail at Silver Falls State Park is almost completely brushed out and we are ready to get to work on the trail bed. Volunteer trail workers will join SATA leaders to clear away duff, cut back brush and dig out stumps to prepare the way for the final tread construction on this 3 ½ mile section of a brand new mountain bike and hiking/running trail. When all phases are complete we estimate almost 8 miles of challenging and beautiful trail!
Please meet at 9:00 am at the 214 trailhead, just off the Silver Falls Highway south of the main South Falls entrance. Wear sturdy boots, dress for the weather and bring gloves, water and snacks. We will supply tools and cold drinks and snacks for social time at the end of the work. Supervised children are welcome, but be aware that there will be rough walking and sharp tools in use.
